This score will always be a favorite of mine. As a Shadow fan and collector, I waited 13 years for the movie to be made and while some scenes should have been out of the film; overall, it was a good film made better by Jerry Goldsmith's music. Now with Goldsmith's passing, we will have his music to remember him by. My favorites are The Wind and the Lion, Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979), LA Confidential, and one of his best: Chinatown.
This soundtrack could have done without the vocals. Goldsmith's music can stand by itself. The Orson Welles clip from the classic radio show is a nice touch however and gives listeners a feel for how The Shadow was on the radio with its classic introduction.
