Hi,

The instrument You're asking for is most probably japanese bamboo flute called shakuhachi, although I might be wrong. This instrument is constantly used by James Horner in various number of his scores, most notably in Willow. I used to call it his 'fetish'. Also Hans Zimmer is using it from time to time (f.i.
