Re: Tears of the Sun(byro)
Simply put, this soundtrack is masterful.
I too read more than a subjective bias in the review, one of personal context, and certainly one of the ego; wishing and hoping for the customary set of tracks to "placate" the movie. However, imho, this soundtrack is without doubt as magnificent as the movie, but it too being misuderstood and devalued because of it's depth. A depth of more than moving colors, characters, and score. The intangible in this movie is it's true value. This score and movie is threaded with the element suspended witin us all, soul.
Quite frankly, the music score has power beyond the normal background filler and scene characterizer. There is something beyond the seen in this music, and if you doubt it, listen to the soundtrack all the way thru apart from the movie, while resting the mind of it's normal chatter. What is captured by Hans in this compilation is nothing short of genius. He truly is a master at Cause and Effect. For his work at calling to your inner purpose, getting behind your mind, is not accidental nor simple, rather you "hear" it or not. But if i may say, you can feel it. And that is the power of Mr. Zimmer's work. He goes beyond the ear. Harmonizing deep within our core.
