Name: Peter Matthews
Resides: Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England
Occupation: Percussion Teacher
Born: 1972
Family: Married with a daughter.
Interests: Percussion, Film Music, Brass Bands

I am a Percussionist and teacher in South Yorkshire.

I have performed with many local and regional orchestras and currently play regularly with the National Festival Orchestra. I have been a member of the Grimethorpe Colliery Brass Band since 1991, which has allowed me play at great venues such as London's Albert Hall, major cities in Europe, Japan, New Zealand and Australia (including Sydney Opera House) and New York's Carnegie Hall.

I have also been privilaged to perform with famous artists/musicians such as Leslie Garrett, Michael Tilson Thomas, LSO Brass Ensemble, John Barry, Peter Skellern, Pete Postlethwaite, Ewan MacGregor and... well the list goes on because we once played live at the Bafta's Ceremony - that was one hell of an evening I can assure you.

I started collecting soundtracks after seeing Batman at the cinema and feeling awestruck as the main title unfolded. Although, I also remember having a fascination with the music from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom as well as The Goonies as an early teenager.

So the soundtracks that have had the most impact on me since then are:

Jurassic Park
Cutthroat Island
Jumanji (no your eyes don't deceive you)
Chicken Run
Angela's Ashes
Last of the Dogmen

I have nearly 500 cd scores in my collection, yet not many from the last 5 years. Getting married, having a daughter and moving home has kind of extinguished the mania I once had in collecting scores. Quite simply, I'd rather spend my cash on having fun with my two ladies than anything else. My interest in film scores, however, remains forever passionate.
