Worst Elfman score ever?   Saturday, May 23, 2009 (1:54 p.m.)

I agree that the score sounds somewhat like that of Chronicles of Riddick by Revell, but even the Riddick videogame score by Gustaf Grefberg was better than this.

Makes me appreciate Fiedel so much more; all he had was a few synths and strings, very limited resources and by comparisson, sounds like a total classic.

Thank you Danny Elfman for ruining a score that should have been a slam dunk. I wish Santaolalla and Thom Yorke had done this instead.

Even a die-hard Elfman fan like me has to admit that this score is boring, pedestrian, and uninspired

I loved this score... It's definitely a more faithful adaption of the music than Beltrami's score for the third film. Not to mention, it's a ton of fun hearing Elfman pull the old junkyard orchestra back together for a reiteration of "Planet of the Apes!" 2 thumbs up from me.

Okay, so it might not be that great... but wish Santaolalla had anything to do with it is a little much. Even Elfman's worst score is far better than any of the uninspired garbage Santaolalla has put out, and I'm really glad the idea of using him did not come to fruition.
