I was deeply disappointed with Elfman's Salvation. There's absolutely nothing memorable, nothing special about it. It sounds terribly generic. Exactly what I've been so tired of in newer actionscores, until Zimmer's Angels and Demons came around and blew my mind. Fine, Fiedel's Terminator scores was at times almost unbearable to listen to, but it had much more memorable stuff and of course a main theme that is now legendary. He made a mark. I can't recall anything from Salvation, a bad sign of a forgettable, generic score that comes and goes and stays out until curiosity picks it up again only to be reminded why I dropped it in the first place.

Not that T3 was that much better in Elfman's defense, but neither he nor Beltrami are able to create a suitable sound and themes that stand out more than being background noise for the Terminator movies they've scored.

I don't know, I genuinely love much of Elfman's stuff, everything from Midnight Run to Batman to Hellboy 2 and Sleepy Hollow, but this was a really boring score. Like you say in the subject, "just another score".
