I beg to differ. Yes, the instrumentation is similar and there's a certain specific chord progression that is common to both the "Sadat" and "Beastmaster" main themes, but the melodic structure is different enough, both from an artistic and even legal standpoint. However, there's indeed the main theme from "Galactica", as mentioned previously on this thread, whose main melody, looking at both partitures and listening to their official renditions, is truly and OBJECTIVELY identical - or the other way around, actually - to the Beastmaster's, inckuding its rythmic structure, up to nearly every single note.
As an aside, just to clarify the timeline, the chronology of these works is as follows: "Battlestar Galactica"(1978) was first, the "The Beastmaster"(1982) came later, then "Sadat"(1983) was last. I'm not including The Time Machine in here because, frankly, it's got absolutely nothing in common with the aforementioned, besides a few instrumental and tonal commonalities. Frankly, I don't know where the original poster got that notion from, with all due respect.
A random and unrelated - but not really - thought: the main melodic phrase for the main theme of both the "Masters of the Universe" and "Remington Steele" TV shows are also so close as to be nearly identical. Give 'em a listen, keep your ears wide open and you'll see - or hear - for yourself.
