• In Response to: One more thing. (Marek)

I couldn't agree more with Zachary Behrendt's review - I absolutely hate Titanic, and unlike most other film score fans, I hardly like anything that Horner has ever done.

Synthesizers and metal clangs - those 2 things drive me mad when I listen to anything by him. I've heard Zimmer use a metal clang in Gladiator (it appears once in 'The Battle'), but Mr Horner sees fit to use it absolutely every time his music reaches any kind of height - it totally detracts from the music. And as for synthesizers, I cannot believe he used them completely outright in Titanic, couldn't he have used some kind of normal instrument instead?

What amazes me even more is that he re-uses his own material to incredible lengths and yet still has a huge following. Many other a-list composers don't have the same fanbase but at least they have the talent to write original material! Horner seems to re-use slightly altered themes all the time - can't the guy write something new occasionally?
