...how much they trashed Elliot Goldenthal at the beginning. "Alien 3" is one of the worst reviewed scores I've ever seen, and yet "Titus" and "Final Fantasy" fare much better, though they are much the same style. I think what's happening is that film scoring is entering a new, more emotional, less intellectual phase, and many of the pundits just don't like it. The same thing happened to Jerry Goldsmith every time he changed style, and just about the time people got used to it, he was changing again.
We're seeing the start of something new, and I-for one-am quite excited.
