"Gabriel dutifully did whatever was asked of him by Wolfgang, and Wolfgang's musical tendencies are to overscore everything, like a Wagner opera."
Given Horner's comment above, it was poetic justice that, just a year and a half later, Terence Malick would replace parts of Horner's score for "The New World" with the prelude from a Wagner opera.
