Psycho? Where?

What's wrong with your ears? This score works with very different means than Herrmann ever did (or could, having never heard the works of Penderecki or Ligeti). The orchestra's full-color effects and hard-hitting jumpscare attacks is nothing like Herrmann's minimalist restrained approach. You can compare this score to Howard's Sixth Sense, if at all, but Herrmann's Psycho is miles away in pretty much everything. If there was any attempt by Silvestri to mimic his predecessor, you can put it away as nothing but a humble bow.
