The project of updating all of Filmtracks' old reviews reached another milestone yesterday. The second phase of re-writes has been completed, concluding two years of work on 490 reviews. This re-written content will continue to be featured in the On Cue section of the Filmtracks home page, though it should be noted that every review written and published on the site prior to 2001 has now been replaced or substantially revised.
The third and final phase of this re-write process involves 175 reviews from 2001 to 2003, a task that is projected to take until next April or May to complete (unless my health problems once again interfere). There is finally light at the end of the tunnel.
Also in the works is a total revision of the site's design. It'll still be black and blue, but the "coolness" factor will be cranked up a few notches. If you have any sentimental attachment to the metallic "Filmtracks" logo that has existed at the top of every Filmtracks page for twelve years, then tell it goodbye.
There is no time frame on when the design changes will be executed; it's a complicated process that will involve the archiving of most of the older sections of Filmtracks, so it might take several more months to roll it out. The new design is, not surprisingly for veterans of this site, inspired by the look of Barack Obama's 2008 campaign site.
