my name is Volker.

I’m a huge fan of films since I first went to the movies at the age of 4 in 1987 and watched the re-release of “The Jungle Book”.

My first real encounter with filmmusic was Hans Zimmer’s score for “The Lion King”. I was given the cassette, but it didn’t last long due to massive overuse.

The first score I bought on CD was again a score by Zimmer. This time “Hannibal”. Especially Patrick Cassidy’s track “Vide cor meum” got me hocked on the album, although the rest of the album is not that impressive. But from that time on I started to actively seek out scores.

With the help of filmtracks, Jon’s and Craig’s site and those on the scoreboard I came across so many new composers and album titles, which I would have missed otherwise. A big thank you to everyone.

Last year I finally turned to music streaming services, since it was impossible for me to get everything on CD.

My favourite composers are Danny Elfman, Thomas Newman, James Horner, John Williams, James Newton Howard, Ennio Morricone, Michael Nyman, Rachel Portman, Vangelis, Craig Armstrong and Panu Aaltio.
