Have we ever done this? Ehh, whatever, I can't remember if we did or not, and frankly I'm bored and just wanna write a list of something, so here we go! Rank your top 10 scores from winning and nominated scores from everyone's favourite awards entity, The Golden Globes, from the 2010's.

List can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Globe_Award_for_Best_Original_Score#2010s

Mine would likely be:

1. Steve Jobs
2. nception
3. Carol
4. Interstellar
5. Cloud Atlas
6. Life of Pi
7. First Man
8. Alice in Wonderland
9. Lincoln
10. The Imitation Game

And the runner ups:

W.E.
War Horse
1917
Little Women
Social Network
Book Thief
Joker
Black Panther
Argo
Phantom Thread
Gravity
Hugo
Hateful Eight
Hidden Figures

Aight folks, what saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay YOU ALLLLLLLL???

Why yes, we have done this: https://www.filmtracks.com/scoreboard/forum.cgi?read=76198&expand=1

Take my list from there, pop Little Women in at #7 or 8, and we're all set.

Trust Ahn in being able to rapidly scour the remnants of the old Board to discover more evidence my memory is rapidly disappearing these days haha. Probably explains the lack of responses. Ah well; if nothing else, I find it quite interesting to see how much higher I'd put Carol these days as opposed to back then.

Funny how they managed to nominate the wrong Desplat and Williams scores across the decade, especially with the former in 2014, I mean, even the Oscars got that right (and the Oscars at least had some Star Wars!). I guess the Globes only really exist to make the Oscars look slightly less silly these days.

Very much a scraping the barrel exercise, I suppose, but sure, here goes - my first message on the new board, by the way - somewhat appropriately:

Marriage Story
Life of Pi
Lincoln
Phantom Thread
Black Panther
Inception
The Hateful Eight
La La Land
Mary Poppins Returns
First Man (grown on me since 2018)

Runners up:
Motherless Brooklyn
The Revenant (I love it in the film, what can I say?)

I only really return to the top five of these - honestly scrolling through that wiki page I wasn't sure I'd find ten, but then a few emerge; Moonlight has one or two really great tracks that signalled what Britell could do. Randy Newman at the top, of course. And then a near-tie between the 2012 pair. I remember when Danna pipped Williams to both the Oscar and the Globe, I was rather annoyed, because I hadn't given 'Life of Pi' the time it deserved. Almost a decade later, and Danna's utterly lovely little epic score has gradually worked its way up my decade rankings to the point where it tops 'Lincoln'. My emergent Indophilia might have something to do with this: 'Pi's Lullaby' is just so moving.

Lol, a barrel-scraper, and I still write an essay - start as we mean to go on, eh?

Well, if NBC is going to stick with their plan to stop airing them, they barely exist at all now, let alone for a reason.

Don't mind me, just sitting here trying to figure out if there's a better word for Indophilia. All I've got so far is Desiphilia, which sounds weird.

The more things change...

I'd forgotten that. But hey, thanks to your list, I just realised I somehow skimmed over 'Little Women', so I was wrong: they didn't nominate all the wrong Desplat scores. Not quite a raison d'etre, but worth acknowledging.

Yeah, not such a fan of that, though in some ways it's more accurate. I mean, Indophilia doesn't really cut it, but at least it beats the somewhat tryhard mouthful of Bharatphilia...

The more Riley grumbles?

Nah, that's not fair - least of all from me, given that I tend to agree with him most when he's at his most reactionary lol.

Top 10 Tuesday - Golden Globe Nominees 2010's   Wednesday, October 20, 2021 (3:05 a.m.)
• Now Playing: Joel P West - Shang-Chi

Basically all the Burwell, Pemberton, Reznor & Ross nominations. Add 1917 and Alice in Wonderland and that should make 10. Too lazy to properly rank them though :p
