• Now Playing: Alone in the Dark - Derieviere

Starting off with Deriviere's wonderful score to "Alone in the Dark". While I heard the video game itself was a bit of a dud, the score is great. Creepy when it needs to be, and bombastic when it can be. I really need to explore more of Deriviere's work. Between this and "Remember Me" he really has some talent.

After that a concept album by Plowman called "The Horror of H.P. Lovecraft". Some great music inspired by the writer's short stories and novels. Lots of fun for this time of year. If I have time left... "Drag Me To Hell" one of Chris Young's best horror scores.

What are you listening to?

Your mention of Deriviere has inspired me to give Remember Me another go. I'll listen to Shang-Chi tonight as well. Not sure what else, maybe some late-period Goldsmith.

Those are a few "obscure" scores that I really like and appreciate. Haven't revisited AitD in a long time, and that Plowman Lovecraft inspired release (I think this was his first of these.) is really good.

I'm giving a first to McCreary's Foundation v1 this morning. Got lost in the catch-up shuffle these past few weeks. It's another good one-- thematic, long cues. Seems yet another consistently-great year for the composer.

Another listen to Venom:LTBC if only to start picking out the best of that terrific score. I really like the return of Beltrami this year.

Another listen to Curse of Turandot to see if it starts clicking at a higher level for me.

A few horror scores pegged for pm: a recent underappreciated favorite from the 2015 animated Edgar Allan Poe film: Extraordinary Tales (Sergio de la Puente). (Wish I could find the old 12minute suite for House of Usher that used to be on YT. It was so perfect!)

Then I think some Shirley Walker.
Final Destination 1,2,3? Maybe Nightbreed!
