I admit to finding myself more ambivalent towards film music this year. I can’t quite muster the same level of enjoyment or enthusiasm for it. Listening to new releases has become a struggle. I much prefer the comfort of old, and not so old, favourites. But then I wonder if this is more a reflection of my despair at the state of the world at the moment than it is of the music.
