Going off of Craigs review of Birth of a Nation below, what are some older, classic films that, try as you might, you just can’t like as much as everyone else seems to?

Some off the top of my head for me are….

Birth of a Nation - yes, the racism is awful and evil, but the whole first hour is also the most boring damn thing I’ve ever see .
Sound of Music - everyone loves this movie and it’s songs, Celt Christopher Plummer. And me. Hate it.

The Searchers - just find the storytelling so haphazard and sloppy, filled with silly antics that take away from the dark stuff underneath. Used to loathe this flick but now I just find it strangely overrated, and nowhere near as good as Stagecoach.

Fight Club and Big Lebowski - if 90’s counts as old and classic, then these two have driven me nuts since I first saw them. Lots of good stuff in them but also a ton of awful decisions.

White Christmas - kill me now.

The Last Picture Show - director Bogdonavich sadly died last week, reminding me I should try this one again because critics absolutely adore it and I found it quite dull on first watch. Curious if that would still be the case.

Guess that’s enough sass for now. What sass you alllllllll???
