Let the Ents march again! (Part II) Hey, all - I'm moving this topic to a new thread so the prior one doesn't become totally unwieldy in size and view counts.
I'm helping coordinate the next public campaign in support of keeping as much forest as possible in my Seattle-area community. There's widespread hope that our clear-cutting neighbors will have a change of heart in their plans to cut down more trees and restore only a minimal amount of their original violations, but if they continue to fight to worsen their climate change impacts, then we'll be ready.
In the interim, there's still a way you can help. It's fast, free, and easy.
Kitsap County is now approaching the time when it will decide what it will require the clear-cutters to do next. The county is still taking public comments via email. A quick email to them stating your opinion about deforestation can make a big difference. Some of you have already done this, which is great!
We've recently learned the best way to phrase an email to get feedback sent directly to the county's "Hearing Examiner" that will decide on the permit. The magic words are apparently "I want to be an interested party" and then they take the feedback more seriously.
So here's our ask: If you don't like seeing forest habitats destroyed to make way for agricultural operations, then send an email to Help@Kitsap1.com and say, "I want to be an interested party on permit 20-04869." And then you can say however much or little you want about climate change, forest restoration, wildlife suffering, or whatever aspect interests you the most. Your comment will then have a much higher chance to be considered.
It's as simple as that, guys. Stella and I appreciate the immense support we've received thus far, and keeping pressure on the county is our current goal. More info about this campaign is still at https://www.southworthforest.org/. Please share with your social groups, too!
Thanks,
Christian
