Giacchino - but really we're talking the difference between a top 10 and a top 20 composer in my book, so it's an easy decision but not a hilariously easy one.

I have almost the same amount of scores from both (50 and 51). Both are also in the same neighborhood with COTY nominations.

On average a Giacchino score ranks a bit higher (3.9 vs. 3.7). I've heard over 20 scores 4.5-stars or better from Giacchino and only about half that from Desplat, while there's a sizeable concentration of ***1/2 works in my Desplat collection.
