That’s a toughie.

I think Desplat is the more interesting on a technical level, but Giacchino writes great themes for more movies I actually want to see. I also really appreciate Desplat’s willingness to keep trying new genres, but Giacchino gives off the vibe of a film score fan who’s now writing film scores… which appeals to me as a fan of film scores who’s dabbled in film scoring.

I honestly flopped back and forth as I typed, but I’m gonna say… Giacchino.
