SoÖhas anyone heard Pembertonís latest, Brian & Charles?   Monday, June 27, 2022 (5:03 p.m.)

Itís one of the weirdest damn scores Iíve heard in quite some time. Iím baffled, to be honest. I think I liked it? Hell, there are parts I loved, reminiscent of his Steve Jobs mellow electronica. Then there are other parts that reminded me of Spider-Verse soÖ.yeah. Mixed bag, but damned if I wasnít quite interested. Looking forward to another listen, even if it might piss me off.

Any thoughts?

I have it, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Pemberton is impressive with his range and creativity, though, so I'm hoping I like it.

Ehhhhhhhh Iíd temper those expectations. To be honest, you were one of the first people I thought of when i posted thinking ďHe is probably not gonna like this one at allĒ.

Not sure though. Honestly itís such a bat shit odd score that I canít really say if most around here will hate it or love it, or just be completely indifferent. Looking forward to your thoughts if it ever merits a review.

• Now Playing: The Sound of Violet - Conrad Pope

I heard it last night, and relistened again just to be sure with my opinion. If I was not aware that Pemberton scored it, would have passed it as a new minimalistic indie composerís work (which it embraces to be, if I am not wrong). Like you said there are some passages that remond me of Steve Jobs but there is no single stand-out cue for me, and it was bit hard for me to get through the entire score without a mild headache due to the way some instruments are amped.

But not a bad score rather an interesting one, have to watch the movie and give it a listen again to get the context, maybe that would justify the musical choices.

Brilliant indie score
Pemberton is a fine composer and one of the most diverse and least boring in the industry. Even when the music sometimes harsh and not A pleasent listening experience.... it is always interesting and serves the film .

Well, if the score has at least some Steve Jobs electronics, I'm in. big grin
