I always think of 1990 as an amazing year for film purely on the basis of Goodfellas. According to my Letterboxd, the rest are all 4 star or lower. 1989 and 1991 were both better, I think.

1. Goodfellas
2. Mo' Better Blues
3. Close-Up
4. Dances with Wolves
5. Ju Dou
6. Presumed Innocent
7. Metropolitan
8. The Godfather Part III
9. Miller's Crossing
10. Awakenings

I have 'Die Hard 2' coming up as high on my Letterboxd for that year, rated 4 stars, and I know it's better than Die Hard 1, but still, putting it on the list feels odd.
