Anyone know if these four awful songs were included in this film at Shayamalan's request so as to completely saturate this film in unsettling hippiness, or if the studio required him to include them for sales? They are, all of them, rank turds that make me want to kill myself.
When the credits rolled after this nonsensical, uneven, expository film, I was dangling by a thread TRYING to like it and knowing that a suite at the end would make me leave uplifted. And then, The Times They Are A Changing kicked in, and I almost shot myself right there. I cut the thread. That was when I knew I hated this film. The guy's ploddy, mopy voice sounds like a drowning, dying, vomitous, Druid. If there is one thing worse than listening to Bob Dylan sing (I didn't know it was possible), it is listening to this guy.
What the Hell were you thinking Shayamalan? "We're gonna save the world by smoking weed, having a pool party, mentioning Martin Luther King once, and playing in a crummy garage band?"
Are you kidding?
Only burned-out hippies think they will accomplish things this way (and they never accomplish anything). And what was with all of your self-servicing, egotistical, political moping that you felt YOU should deliver throughout the film?
I loved all of your movies until this one. And this one could have been good if you would have just...completely rewritten it .
At least the music was good. And the two leads are very good.
