You could be right, but if so, the person who wrote it did some studying. All of the proper names and places really exist. I have been to Moscow and read about everything mentioned in the story (except for the criminal act). The Nemtsov Prison is a wellknown place where they used to torture foreign prisoners.

I wouldn't put it past Thaxton to try, especially if the instrument smelled like BBQed pork ribs for some reason.
