-I found that for a score that tried so hard to maintain thematic continuity, it's weird that they didn't provide a more monstrous variation of the Zod theme from MOS to represent Doomsday. This was a ridiculously missed opportunity to show intelligence by Zimmer and his crew.
-FINALLY, ANOTHER PERSON WHO AGREES WITH ME ON MY OPINION OF THE WW THEME! I do not think it's a good fit at all. With a slower variation and some more mystique, it would have been an adequate Luthor theme.
-Jerry Goldsmith's cameo, as I've said before, trumps anything in this score, even when it's mixing isn't the best. The Master Smith of Gold will never fade away, and his legacy will be loved and remembered.
-Superman's theme not being featured prominently is nonsensical and ridiculous. He is a core aspect of the story, yet his theme is not featured in depth?
-Batman's theme is mundane, boring and completely tepid. The six note rhythm is a joke, and the progression of the motif is generic.
-I actually enjoy the Luthor idea more than CC, because it's silly and fun. However, it is rather forgettable and largely one dimensional.
-Sound design in a superhero score? Did Hans and co accidentally think they were scoring Michael Clayton?
-Surprised Clem thought that the score as written for the film was two stars. That's actually higher than what he gave for TASM 2 overall. Are you sure you don't want to re-review that Christian? You might be put in a better mood by it after listening to this junk.
-No. More. Tom. Holkenborg.
Please, Zimmer, please take on some solo projects in animation or dramas. I would love to hear Zimmer have fun with a score while letting his harmonic and melodic gifts shine. This score doesn't make me hate Hans, it makes me frustrated that he doesn't seem to be having fun at all. Sound design and bass pounding for 70+ minutes is not fun for anyone.
