Possibly the most insane statement on this entire website. It's technically and musically one of the best scores from JW, maybe even the best, depending on taste for the genre. There's so much detail to discover at each listening session. The Ultimate War is probably the best action cue ever made, the amount of layers, details and modulations in that track is truly fascinating.

It is one of the worst comment i have ever read in this website. I know you man, you are the fan of Hans Zimmer, that's why you are not accepting this masterpiece. Come on man, Your Zimmer is nowhere near to the GREAT JOHN WILLIAMS. "Hook" is one of the best soundtrack of the century. It is not overrated and over hyped.

If everybody likes John Williams, that is because he just fulfill the expectation s of the listeners, unlike Zimmer, he knows very well to handle the Orchestration, whether it is synthesiser or classical intruments. Everyone in this world knows that Williams is the best composer of Film music. At the same time, I do agree that other composers also great like Thomas Newman, Jerry Goldsmith, Alan Silvestri, Michael Kamen e.t.c. If Zimmer is not acknowledged by Academy Awards committee or by people, that means he should improve in composing music for movies better than Williams.

I couldn't agree more. That's a stupid comment by the original poster. The characters are wonderful and the themes are lush, exciting, at times mysterious. What more could you want from a score. I'd take this over the incredibly overrated "Jurassic Park" or Revenge Of The Sith" any day.

Jurassic Park?! overrated???!!! You're talking about one of the maestro's greatest scores here that would have been his best score of the decade had it not been for Schindler's List. Though I think Jurassic Park and Hook are pretty good.

To be honest, I agree that Jurassic Park is somewhat overrated. I mean, yes, it has its great moments, but it sounds more like a concert-oriented work by Williams, because outside of the concert arrangements, in fact, most of the cues that are not united by thematic material are not of much interest. I would say that while this score contains two themes from the list of the greatest themes ever written by Williams, they badly needed more consistent development. For me, given the grandeur of the themes, this is still one of Williams' greatest works, but honestly I don't think the score has much to offer outside of its concert arrangements.
