The name of the song that you're talking about is call, actually, "California Soul" by Marlena Shaw. She was a big soul/r&b singer from, I believe, the 70's. You can find her CD's in most major record stores. Amazon.com has a very wide selection of her CD's, as I found out trying to look for this song some while ago myself.
