I like all the tracks on the Lion King soundtrack, but the one I’d like to comment on is ‘…To Die For’. I can feel the scope of that scene in the movie, I can hear the pounding of the hooves in the music. The majesty and power of Mufasa’s sacrifice can be heard in the powerful trumpets and bass. The tragedy and sorrow as Simba realizes that his father is so emotionally heard in the music after the excitement and power dies down is so well written that it brings a tear to my eye. Hans Zimmer is exactly what animated movies needed for their scores. The Lion King is one of his greatest works along with the Prince of Egypt.
