the title Neodämmerung is certainly derived from Richard Wagner's opera Götterdämmerung - the last opera of the famous Ring cycle. google it to find what it means... =)

It seems very logical. I've read in one Davis' interview that he was comparing Matrix trilogy as a musical piece consisted from 3 movements of orchestra and Matrix universum full of mythology (where characters has mythological names etc.) to some Wagner piece or maybe it was opera (I forget the name) that was consisted from 4 movements and was about Scandinavian heroes and myths. The conclusions are simple...

I got the point . I won't say bad word about Zimmer, but yeah, Badelt is still big dissapointment as a composer for me. It's out of Matrix-related subjects, but in some way German-rooted composers ruled Golden Age: Waxman, Steiner and of course Herrmann and Korngold have also some german element in their names .

Interestingly, in norse mythology, the gods demise at the end unlike the
immortal gods of other religions. Thus, Gotterdammerung means
Twilight of the Gods. Neo's probably gonna die...

Perhaps an act of sacrafice as the messiah?

Not really. If Matrix will be destroyed in final part of the film, then Neo as a virtual referance of Neo in real world will be finished too (to this thing might be refering title Neodammerung), but it isn't said that Neo as a human will be dead (I think that final events of the 3rd film will be happening in real world).
