Does Christian need to compare every single Hans Zimmer score unfavorably to Pirates of the Caribbean? Look, it's fine if CC has a low opinion of those scores and I have a high opinion of them (or the third, at least), but it's extremely juvenile of the reviewer to pound it home in pretty much every Zimmer review he's written since 2003 (and also in the review of Lady in the Water by James Newton Howard, I might add, a completely unrelated score).

Also, how exactly does Horner compare "favorably" to Zimmer in terms of imitation? Sure, Zimmer's music has a very DISTINCT style that tends to become repetitive after a while (augmented by the countless inferior Media Ventures scores that have emerged from the likes of Badelt, Rabin, Jablonsky, Djawadi etc.). But Horner not only imitates himself BLATANTLY (4-note Danger theme in at least 5 scores, and rambling piano theme in 3-4), he also takes music from OTHER composers (Schindler's List and Enemy at the Gates is especially insulting), a thing Zimmer only rarely does.

Any visitors to this site know that Christian Clemmenson hates Hans Zimmer, to the point of grudgingly giving him a SINGLE five-star review (compared to Horner's 11!) for Crimson Tide. From a score reviewer's point of view, The Lion King, The Prince of Egypt and also The Last Samurai deserve five stars as well. At the very least!
