I think the score for Hannibal was one of the most haunting and briliant score from the past 5, or 10 years. Also the Hannibal soundtrack was a hard seller not just by Zimmer fans but also by non-Zimmer fans.
I like Danny Elfman's recent scores, but this time he didn't made any good at all.

Amen to that:) Nobody can compose a score like Hans Zimmer! Any Director who sticks with Zimmer is SMART!

Ridley Scott directed Hannibal; he's teamed up with Zimmer now for his past few films. Red Dragon was directed by Brett Ratner who grabbed up Elfman for his previous film, The Family Man, so it only makes sense he'd pick him up for Red Dragon (obviously, since Ratner's other collaborator, Schifrin, couldn't score a movie like this, really). As for Zimmer's score. . . The addition of the dialogue mixed with the score was a rather rotten touch, and the score itself was just decent. Elfman's score is powerfully haunting and ultimately a very close second to Howard Shore's Silence of the Lambs.

In mid 80's Schifrin composed a score for "Mean season" with Kurt Russell and Mariel Hemingway. The plot is similar to "Red dragon", score is terrible though (in my opinion anyway...)

Lalo Schifrin did Money Talk, Rush Hour and Rush Hour 2, as Brett Ratner did the directing.
The producers of this film were Din De Laurentis, and also Ridley Scott did an uncredited helping for the film. They were both producers of the film Hannibal. That is why my question.

Exactly! Why Elfman? The guys @ Media Ventures could have scored the movie much better!

The score is orchestrated by Steve Bartek, Edgardo Simone, Bruce Fowler and David Sloanaker. Fowler also co-orchestrated MEN IN BLACK II. The fact that he worked on RED DRAGON is no connection to HANNIBAL.

That is true. I just forgot to write "co-orchestrated" & i also know
that his work on RED DRAGON has no connection to HANNIBAL. But i did not
