I've heard a rumor that only eighteen minutes of this entire album are from the ring. Could someone tell me which tracks/sections of music are from the first film, and which are from the second? The cd doesn't give any specifics as far as this goes, and it also doesn't understand who wrote what (though I've heard that Zimmer wrote most of the stuff for "The Ring", and his cohorts used his themes to write "the Ring Two.")

Hey,

Yea thats right. I was the one who posted that there was only 18 minutes of score from the first movie. That is too bad because I wanted more than that, especially when i had the promo that already had the end titles. Yet, the new release is in better quality. But, there were still ALOT of music that didn't make it in here! I think that they should of have at least one more suite track from The Ring. Better yet they should of dropped the last three tracks. But yea there is unfourtounaly 19 minutes out of an hours score. And this is true because I have actually edited my soundtrack and I am making a big mp3 cd with stuff from ringu, rasen, ring, and ring two. And I really dont feel like fast forwarding through 5 minutes of material everytime I was to hear something. Yet, if i edited them i could put them in the order where they appear in from the movie. Yet, in the case of ring two...i dont know yet. Those I just have in the order they appear in on the soundtrack. Now, I have actually based the titles for the tracks from the ring off the chapter titles on the dvd as well as tracks from the actual soundtrack. All of the others, Ring Two, I have made up or looked at the soundtrack. And about the composers. The Ring was composed by Hans Zimmer, Henning Lohner, Jim Dooley, Martin Tillman, and Trevor Morris. The Ring Two was done by Henning Lohner, Mark Tiliman, and Trevor Morriss. Hans Zimmer only supplied the themes, but was never attached to The Ring Two. WHich is too bad because the score to The Ring Two would have been alot better. If anyone finds a mistake here please feel free to tell me. Anyways, I hope this helps.

Hey, thanks so much for that very thorough and helpful information. Wow, they really did mix that score up a lot. I had thought that they would possibly put tracks from the first film at the beginning (perhaps the 25-30 minutes that were on the bootlegged versions), and then fill the rest with stuff from the ring two. But wow, they did quite a splice and edit job. Pretty disappointing, I had wanted to hear the first Ring score in full. Also interesting that Hans Zimmer was never attached to this film, he was listed as the composer on IMDB for a long time. In other Zimmer news, it seems he's dropped off of Terence Malick's "The New World", and been replaced with James Horner. Zimmer also replaced Horner on "The Last Samurai". Interesting the directors would make those switches with composers who seem to have very little in common. Zimmer has also signed on to score the next two Pirates of the Caribbean films, though I have a feeling that's going to be a Media Ventures community project. Oka, anyway, I'll shut up now. Thanks for the info once again.
