Now, before I comment, I haven't heard the album yet so I don't know if this particular offense made it to record. But, when I saw the film, I was shocked and horribly dismayed to hear a blatant appropriation of John Williams' Auschwitz music from Schindler's List playing during the long (and excellent) slow-motion shot of Holmes in the aftermath of the big explosion scene. It wasn't the exact music, of course, but it smacked so much of "source music inspiration" and departed so scantly from the original that the resemblance immediately struck me, and I was horrified that music of such emotional gravitas was being appropriated for blockbuster action-comedy. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, and it immediately took me straight out of the movie (which I had been enjoying) and hurt my final opinion of it.
