The score is okay, but not as good as his Batman work or even Planet Of The Apes. Spiderman simply has not one theme that sets itself apart from the rest. Still Elman is a master. Right up there with John Williams. But for the style of this film, he is the wrong man to score the film. He is better off scoring darker orientated films.

I consider Batman a superior score to this, but only because it was some thing **new**. This type of urbanized (yet still thematic) score is not so original, and yet it succeeds more than many other scores. This is indeed a great effort by Danny Elfman. I don't think Planet of the Apes is a better score than this, though it too had some merit (namely the percussive creativity and the hints of thematic majesty).

The score is extremely similiar to the original Batman.
