Anyone else think this theme is absolutely marvellous? I can't get enough of it. Whereas any other composer would have scored the house/climax scenes with mainly discordant progressions, harsh brass and whatnot, Powell uses this beautiful, ethnic-like theme to a fantiastic effect.

I think it sounds great too. It's a strong theme that serves as a great foundation for the rest of the score.

I agree. What we need now is for Xmen 4 to feature the real Phoenix story where the alien being Phoenix resurrects Jean Grey. We also need Cyclops back though. And what about Emma Frost? But then get Powell so we can get more of this theme!

I agree, I can not get enough of this theme, it is so filled with energy and beauty, and somehow fits absolutly perfectly with the action that surrounds it in "Dark Phoenix's Tragedy" and "Phoenix Rises". I really like the Choral additions in "Phoenix Rises" they add an exciting new element, making the theme more powerful, which makes sense as it was the climax of the movie. I also like how Powell ends the score with the Phoenix theme, using deep brass and strings to push the theme, while a lone trumpet repeats in the background...great layering. Overall a great score!

The score outshines the movie here in orders of magnitude. Phoenix, comic and movie wise, has a great terrible beauty. Her primal, uncontrollable powers are also stunningly graceful and elegant. Powell has really captured the true Phoenix in a way that the writers couldn't.

I agree - it's the album highlight! I can't get enough of that track!

Indeed...i love the way that he uses that harsh brass in the "Dark Phoenix Rises" cue and makes the chorus sing a different melody before bringing them both together in an amazing use of the phoenix theme...it still gives me goosebumps. Not to mention added with all the action on the movie...its truely a touch of genious
