Filmtracks has remained without a physical home for the first half of 2016, the site's slow transition back to Seattle not allowing for dedicated office space. Fortunately, most of the site's major long-term structural and design goals were completed before the 2015 relocation, allowing for a relative lull in non-review activity during this time. I plan to squeeze Filmtracks into a new dedicated office if I can find the right real estate deal, hopefully this year. Prices in the Seattle area are astronomical.

During the remainder of the transition out of the site's years in Montana and Wyoming, all development on features of the site outside of the reviews is on hold. The CD sale, for instance, is paused since the collection being sold remains packed up in a storage unit afar. A few small technical glitches were resolved in the first half of this year, however, including those affecting the internal search engine and RSS feed. I continue to tackle those as time allows.

Despite lacking office space for the site, I've managed to keep the review schedule on target. With 20 all-new reviews and 32 re-written reviews in the first six months of 2016, the site is actually on track to exceed its coverage goals for the entire year, assuming productivity can remain the same. I haven't completed as many new reviews at the halfway point since 2012, and the sum of 32 re-writes eclipses the yearly totals going back to 2011. Many of those re-writes remain in the queue, ready for publishing over the remainder of this summer.

Financially, the site is not significantly losing money, covering its basic costs but not supplying enough funds to purchase major new scores for review purposes. With physical space, finances, and time all likely to remain tight over the rest of the year, don't expect a significant increase in all-new reviews. With luck, the next status update will reveal a new, permanent address for the site. It's my hope that the next address for the site will be one to last at least a decade.

As a final reminder, recall that Filmtracks' forums have traditionally experienced a rush of trolls and subsequent off-topic discussion relating to politics every four years when America votes for a new president. Predictably, 2016 has been no different from the last four election seasons at the site, and with the controversially narcissistic and arguably fascist Donald J. Trump in the mix this time, I expect the trolls to be prolific. Try to find as much amusement in these sideshows as I do, because attempting to block their efforts has proven futile in the past. The forums should return to normal after Trump is defeated in November. On the other hand, if Trump somehow wins, then either he will make Filmtracks great again or the site will target a move to British Columbia!
