1 Lust, Caution
Lust, Caution is peak Desplat for me. Achingly delicate and precise instrument combinations, mysterious, ambiguous tone, knock-out main theme, personal significance! I heard it for the first time during a snow storm in Boston before a lovely date with my wife, that would be our last one before being separated for a few months with an uncertain future. smile

2 Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End
Hans hit full send on this one.

3 I Am Legend
Hardest decision was putting this above Ultimatum. I know there's not a whole lot to this one but everything thats there beyond the horror bits are top tier JNH. This one helped really hook me on the composer.

4 The Bourne Ultimatum
The temp tracking from Supremacy hurts everything, but the baroque installment in the series is a dark, immersive, powerful beast nonetheless.

5 Ratatouille
I think this is still my 2nd favorite Giacchino after Jupiter Ascending. Joyful, vibrant.

6 3:10 to Yuma
Beltrami and Morricone are a terrific combo.

7 P.S. I Love You
I think still my favorite Powell drama score? Love the main theme.

8 The Golden Compass
Rich, delicate, thoughtful, more peak Desplat here. Love all the inventive textures.

9 Alien vs. Predator Requiem
Elliot Goldenthal joins a thrash metal rock band, its a blast!

10 Partition
An obscure one, but Tyler goes drama and Indian to much success.

About five years ago I listened to this and expressed very curmudgeonly thoughts about it. I'm still kind of at a loss for how this is supposed to be music for an erotic thriller, but as an album, I find it far less boring than I did at that time.

Judging by how many people worked on the score, he hit reply all too!

Seems like you're underselling a little, it's pretty darn good. If I'm feeling real spicy I might say it's his only good score from this year.
