Did anyone else know that Zimmer and Balfe turned the Danger Zone melody into one of the new score themes? I can't find anything about it elsewhere but it sounds like Clemmensen is right!

I couldn't find any press about it, either, but when I heard it in "Give 'Em Hell," I immediately recognized it. A definite "whoa!" moment. Its recurring usage is a really nice touch from the composers and a big part of why the score got a four-star rating as written for the film.

I never heard anything about it but when it started playing in the film it smacked me right in the face. I guess I came into the movie expecting something like that to happen. It sounds a bit silly in context because it's so far removed from the original, but I can't help but grinning anyways and enjoying myself.

I picked up on it on my first listen, but mostly because I couldn't stop laughing at how much the power-anthemized version of it at 2:14 of "Give 'em Hell" sounds like The Last Samurai. You really can run any old melody through the Zimmer filter and it'll all end up sounding alike

To quote Red Letter Media concerning "Danger Zone" being power anthemized...

Balfe talked about this in at least two interviews.

Admittedly I didn't pick up on the Danger Zone theme. Also don't remember much about the score except that I'd still agree with the rating I gave it. "Fine and fun" but not great. Granted, it actually *has* a score unlike the 1986 film that is mostly just the songs on repeat.

I legitimately don't even remember if it showed up on the album or not. I'm sure someone just mentioned it in the thread if it did, but I still don't know/remember.

Wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't. Unless it's a super sneaky interpolation, I'd probably have noticed it.

I'm enjoying this. You know, Ethan and I talked once about making a website that was basically a Rotten Tomatoes-esque review aggregator for score reviews. Maybe not with the average ratings or anything, but just a one stop shop to find all the reviews for a particular score. Just mentioning in case anyone else wants to steal the idea...

I don't remember other reviewers mentioning this much, which seemed odd to me. I started chuckling when I first saw the flick and it quickly became obvious what this motif was drawing from. Fun, cheeky homage.
