Ohhh, can't believe I missed this post this week. Just busy with work.
And yes, Caitlin Clark went all Caitlin Clark all over South Carolina, and it was the finest women's basketball game I've seen in my two months of fandom.
> Let's take a look at what was good and was wasn't in the last two months:

It's funny, of all the hype I listed, I don't feel like I even heard a handful of them. Still awaiting Forspoken. I'll agree with all the entries of the Fenton doc, but once again, it's Kevin Kiner's score for The Bad Batch S2 that has my affections at the moment. Vol. 2 was just released this week, so now there is a whopping 3 or 4 hours of that score, because of course there is.
My other favorite is Fernanda (Paolo Vivaldi), but that might go back to the previous few months. Big agree on We Have a Ghost, and I had a blast with Agent Elvis. Haven't yet heard Mando S3 (3?).
This cue from Gridman Universe (Shiro Sagisu):

> Things that were okay: Both the Becks, Boston Strangler, John Wick 4,

> Tehu, Supercell, La Sirvienta, A Good Person, Ping Pong of China, both the

> Still waiting on albums for: Succession, Picard (In the pipeline I hear!
> *cue obligatory 'When do we get Strange New Worlds???'*)
waiting for Succession is my new favorite on-going score meme. Or at least should be ongoing in every hype post.

Onward!!

Going to win a natty! Going to win a natty!
> The Aces of April:
> Super Mario Bros Movie (Brian Tyler) - This should be a ton of fun.
> Picturing classic Mario themes with the energy of Tyler's Lego Universe.
> April 5
> Renfield (Marco Beltrami) - Vampire comedy! Trailer looks terrible
> but score should be promising! April 14
> Chevalier (Kris Bowers) - Period drama(!) about Joseph Bologne, a
> renowned 18th Century French-Creole(!!) violinist/composer(!!!). First new
> thing from Bowers in a while, should be good. April 21
> Peter Pan and Wendy (Daniel Hart) - Man, what happened the last
> time we let David Lowery and Daniel Hart do a Disney remake? Oh yeah,
> Pete's Dragon. Hart has the hot hand right now, and Peter Pan scores are
> almost always gold. April 28
> Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret (Hans Zimmer) - At long last,
> an adaptation of the Judy Blume classic, and also at long last, Hans
> Zimmer's Wicked Oboe Solos! April 28
This Peter Pan thing is getting so weird. I feel like there is something going on in Hollywood that we don't know about, like adapting it puts you in a club or something. Regardless, really looking forward to whatever Hart does with it.
> Additional April Attractions:
> Chupa (Carlos Rafael Rivera) - Family adventure film. Always good
> to have more Rivera, especially after the success of Queen's Gambit. April
> 7.
Yeah, hope this one is good!
> Mafia Mamma (Alex Heffes) - I mean, look at that title! April 14
> The Covenant (Christopher Benstead) - Newest Guy Ritchie film,
> about a veteran returning to Afghanistan to rescue his interpreter. Looks
> like Benstead is Ritchie's guy now, let's hope there's an album this time.
> April 21
What happened to Pemberton? That collaboration was aces.
> Ghosted (Lorne Balfe) - Romance/comedy/action. Trailer for this
> looked fun. April 21
> Beau is Afraid (Bobby Krlic) - Ari Aster is back, with...honestly
> I'm not sure what this movie is. But Midsommar was great, so in Krlic we
> trust. April 21
> Big George Foreman (Marcelo Zarvos) - Boxing biopic! April 28
> Might be of interest to someone:
> On a Wing and Prayer (Brandon Campbell) - Survival/airplane
Brandon Roberts, right?
> disaster movie with religious undertones. Could be good. April 7
> The Pope's Exorcist (Jed Kurzel) - Horror movie with religious
> undertones. Not big on Kurzel, but hey maybe he has a Nun in him.
> (Phrasing Vik!) April 14
> Evil Dead Rise (Stephen McKeon) - Unfamiliar with McKeon, but I
> adore Banos' Evil Dead score, so I'll have to check this one out. April 21
Hope this one goes with orchestral mayhem like the Banos score, but I'm skeptical.
> Mighty May Movies!
> Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 (John Murphy) - It's an
> extraordinarily dumb sequence of events that led to this movie happening
> basically the same as it was going to, but without Tyler Bates returning.
> But hey, looks like it's John Murphy time! May 5
> Knights of the Zodiac (Yoshihiro Ike) - Japanese/American crossover
> fantasy epic? Hell yeah! May 12
Super interesting. Not completely hyped after last years anime score, but this is a new type of thing for Ike, and he can be wonderful, so maybe this lands.
> Fast X (Brian Tyler) - Still distraught that they didn't call this
> this one FasTen Your Seatbelts. I enjoyed various parts of Tyler's F9, so
> let's hope the series keeps getting bigger and more chaotic and weirder!
> Though also they already went to space? May 19
> The Little Mermaid (Alan Menken/Lin-Manuel Miranda) - I
> mean...okay, so Beauty and the Beast was the only one of these Renaissance
> era remakes where the score was like noticeably different/better than the
> original, right? And part of that is because Menken was still very fresh
> as a composer when he wrote the original. So in a similar vein, him
> getting to build and improve on the music he wrote almost 35 years ago
> should be a good opportunity, right? Also LMM is writing songs I guess.
> Though once again I'm wondering why he didn't work on Aladdin. May 26
> MAYbe, MAYbe not?
> The Machine (Joseph Trapanese) - Fun-looking action comedy. May 26
> You Hurt My Feelings (Michael Andrews) - Small scale drama, could
> be good? May 26
> ...okay, I can only conclude that Wikipedia is not fully up to date on May
> releases, because this seems like a paltry list compared to the April
> lineup.
> Since y'all yell at me about TV scores: Mando S3 volume 2 I would presume
> is about a month away. Picard S3 has an album coming April 20. John Lunn's
> The Last Kingdom is out April 22, which based on the album cover will
> negate whatever effects the trolls claim Downton Abbey's music has on
> testicles.
My biggest addition here is the Atli Orvarsson score for Silo. First big project for him in a little while, and could be interesting.
Also, Yoshiaki Fujisawa scores (plural) just dropped this week.
Luminous Witches
Spy Room
> And because I'll probably be late with the June post:
> Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Daniel Pemberton) - Look, I
> really liked the first one, okay? The only thing that could dampen my
> excitement is if Pemberton inexplicably dropped his main theme. (Robert, I
> know you're about to come in with 'what main theme?' so shut up ) June
> 2
The Pemberton score really grew on me, but doesn't hurt that I adore the film.
> Shooting Stars (Mark Isham) - Okay it's weird that we're getting
> biographical films about Lebron James while he's still playing. But hey,
> Isham sports score! June 2
> Speaking of basketball, Iowa got blown out of the championship game on

Sure, make me relive it here a week later.
dangit.
Deeper bench goes off in the biggest game, but the ref thing. Hard to D up when you absolutely can't foul out, and the refs called the game unlike any other game of the tourney. 10M people tune in to watch Caitlin Clark maybe do impossible things, and the refs cut her arms off and took her out of the game. Bad move for the sport's popularity, but whatever. I'm bitter obviously.
> What are you HYPED for?
Carmen (Nicholas Brittel) 4/21
Peter Pan and Wendy (Daniel Hart) 4/28
Silo: S1 (Atli Orvarsson) 5/5
