…the band Son Lux (Everything Everywhere All At Once). Honestly, a little out of left field and was secretly hoping for Balfe to continue his Black Widow sound, but we’ll see what they bring.

While thematic continuity hasn’t been the MCU’s strong suit, it’s worth noting that Lorne’s themes have been continued by another composer already. Fingers crossed…

Where have his themes been reprised? Guessing the Hawkeye TV series?

Yes, Beck and his team made use of the Natasha and Yelena themes. I remember first hearing the latter at the end of episode 3 and gasping with joy.

Nice! I'll have to go and listen then. Do you by chance have the cue names?

E5: Arrival and Return

E6: Wreck the Halls (at 3:15), Natasha

Great outside-of-the-box pick. I loved their Everything Everywhere score; I hope they're able to be similarly creative with Thunderbolts.

It’s decent? I remember writing it off due to being from an Indie film with composed by an experimental band; not typically the best combination :P

I mean I highly recommend seeing the film because it's probably my favorite thing of this decade so far, so at least go watch that. I don't love the music as much as Josh does, but it's weird in a creative and interesting way to me. Not as good as Swiss Army Man was for the directors' last work, but does its job well for a movie that was probably really difficult to score.

Has the misfortune of coming out when my OCD was around its worst, if I remember correctly :P
I’ll get to it eventually, but I’ll shamefully admit that my fandoms (Ice and Fire, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, Middle-earth, DC, Marvel…) are where I’m going to be doing the meat of catch-up on.

I was so sure that Balfe would be scoring it, and so much looking forward to it (not a statement I can see myself typing 6 years ago)... His Black Widow score is my favorite of his, and one of my favorites in the MCU.

Everything Everywhere was good and interesting and clearly showed they are worthy of a big opportunity like this. I like the choice.

...oh. Well, then, that's...that's a pick.

Let's cross our fingers and see what happens.

(My prediction? Rock and dissonance will rule the day. Big themes are out.)

As much as I enjoyed their Everything Everywhere score in-context for capturing both the batshit insanity of the infinite as well as the film's heart (it's all a bit too much on album though), I'm not sure one of the more "gritty" Marvel action films is where their talents will be best utilized. If you HAD to hire Son Lux for a Marvel film, then one of their more wild and fantastical superheroes like Doctor Strange would have made more sense; or heck, if Joel P. West isn't available get them on the Shang-Chi sequel and let 'em cut loose with that over-the-top martial arts sound like they did in EEAAO. And before you tell me, yes I know they worked with the director of Thunderbolts* before and that's why they're here.
