I know historically Giacchino has been predisposed towards a “drier” sound. Maybe it's just been a minute since I've listened to one of his scores. But man, it is immediately noticeable in Fantastic Four. The main theme utilizes a crescendoing brass and choir that begs for a rich, full-bodied experience. Instead, it is betrayed by a lack of reverb or separation, coming across like they're recording in a bathroom.
I don't understand his choice, but for me it negatively affects the listening experience. You have a full orchestra and choir at your fingertips, why deaden it into oblivion instead of letting it soar?

At least it’s better than Dan Wallin’s mixes used to be. You want dry? Talk about dry.

Not sure what you’re listening to your music on, but this is one of the finest recordings of Giacchino’s music since his video game days. Peter Cobbin’s lively, dynamic, spacious, detailed, powerful recording helps make this score soar!
