Danny Elfman's score for the new Luc Besson DRACULA is out, and right out of the gate, the melody that plays in "Music Box" sounds eerily familiar to me. I've heard it somewhere.

Has anyone else clocked this? Where is it from?

It's probably not what you have in mind, but it somehow reminds me of Javier Navarrete's Pan's Labyrinth Lullaby... Not a copy in any way, but I hear a kinship.

I checked, haha, and no, that's not it at all. The violin line resembles it, yes, but that's not what I had in mind. Besides, I only saw the movie once and never heard the score on its own.

I swear I've heard that exact theme before!

There's a motif in there that's very reminiscent of Young's The Piper.

And also a ton of self-referential Elfman stuff that sounds like a number of other Elfmans, because that's his sound.

YES!! It was The Piper!

Now that I'm listening to it, the melodies are not exactly the same, but they do sound very similar.

Thank you! My brain can rest now.

I'd also add these two connections:

Patty's theme from The Frighteners

a variation of which also appears in the Corpse Bride (at 3:03):

Objectively funny that Danny Elfman's first project after the accusations is with Luc Besson hahahahahahahahahaahah

In terms of optics it's damn near the worst career decision he's made...then again, I don't know if the accusations are affecting his career much.
