SCOREBOARD HISTORY

First posted as a idealistic Republican zealot around the 2004 US Presidential election, though I believe I had lurked for a couple years prior. Picked up posting in earnest much later, and now I often spam the board daily. My monniker is a relic of my first posts here, but in the interests of tradition and Internet anonymity I have decided to retain it.

HOW DO I RATE SCORES?

I don't try to give out brownie points for how well film composers do their jobs - my sole concern is how well the music works on album, ranked as a potential purchase as against all other music. My ratings are as follows:

***** - absolute masterpiece/"classic" - "must have" for my collection - $20-40
**** - standout/excellent - this is a score worth active effort in seeking out - $10-20
*** - good/solid/enjoyable - these are scores that make good albums where an active search isn't necessary - $5-10
** - alright - these scores make tolerable albums, perhaps with real highlights, but do not merit a purchase - $ 0
* - awful - such a score is actively unpleasant and/or pointless to listen to - I will throw it away even if I have space to store it

I should point out that my ratings are intended to be broad categories rather than a precise measurement, and that only **** and ***** albums are generally worth the list price of a CD. Along those lines, the dollar value above is what a score in a certain category is usually worth, to me.
