Hi all! It's me, Victoria. As you may know, I've recently been married to banker turned soundtrack collector and salesman, Richard (Rich) Smugley.
I've made this account so I can document my journey with Rich and Christian Kuhn while we go on our search to find the Golden Woodwinds- the Capitalist Clarinet, the Marxist Oboe, the Rastafarian Bassoon, the Imperial (or Shogunate) Shakuhachi, and the Recorder of the Third Reich.
Of course, you're probably wondering, "does she even listen to film music?!"
Why yes! I do! That's how Rich and I met!
I was at a wedding of one of my closest childhood friends, and they started playing music from Legends of the Fall. I didn't know what it was, but I thought it was one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. A tall and handsome young man next to me saw my reaction to the music, and introduced himself as Richard (Rich), a friend of the groom. The rest was history. Richard soon moved into the soundtrack business, and after the financial success of "X-Men Days of Future Past: Rogue Cut Extended Edition", within six months we were on a tropical cruise and engaged!
I'm still pretty new to the genre, but some of my favorite scores are those of Thomas Newman. He's one of the most talented and amazing musicians alive today. He understands texture better than most, and gets me in all the right paces. I also think that the greatest film composer to have ever lived was John Barry. I'm a huge Bond fan, and he really was able to bring that franchise to life!
Anyways, I can't type much more since I'm about to get on a plane with my two traveling companions, but I can't wait to share our adventures with the scoreboard. I'll update this profile a little later.
