Now Playing: Phantom Menace

I’ve been a reader on this site for quite some time and I consider myself a regular reader here. I say this because I find it extremely disappointing to see the reviewer use the former names of the Wachowski’s. It adds nothing to the review and people in the LGBTQ community find that sort of thing extremely offensive & in bad taste. It’s called “dead naming”. I’m sure you’ll say it was about providing context but that is not an acceptable excuse. Please, please edit that section. Including two transgender people’s dead names in a review about the score featured in their film is…straight up wrong.

Please be better. Thank you

Filmtracks isn't the most politically correct place on the internet. He just reviewed The Matrix again and still refered to them as 'Andy and Larry Wachowski' there. The other Matrix reviews still call them 'brothers'.

Why is he doing that? Is he trying to be provocative? Or just ignorant? I’ve never gotten the impression the guy that runs this place is intolerant or disrespectful(regarding an artists personal lifestyle). It would be nice if the reviewer could respond and explain himself or edit the article. I know a few transgender people & dead naming(outside of the occasional slip up or accident) is extremely offensive to them. It’s a shame to see that sort of behaviour here of all places.

My hunch is that Clemmensen just follows his own logic and doesn't care. He's a total liberal but he echoes George Carlin hatred for politically correct language. In his mind, the Wachowskis were men at the time they made the Matrix, so probably he still refered to them as men in that review re-do.

He also doesn't care about offensive stuff. He left a post called 'Does Lana Wachowski still have a penis?' without deleting. https://www.filmtracks.com/scoreboard/forum.cgi?read=75924

Totally agree, he's one of the alt-middle (re: sane, pragmatic, nuanced). You can respect trans equality without completely erasing past reality (that they were once Larry and Andy...")

This demand by the woke-ists that everyone respect these rules they made up is how we ended up with Trump

There is a difference between 99.9% of regular trans people and the Wachowskis who are mega-celebrities. Media treat mega-celebs different whether fair or not, but let's face it, the original Matrix movies still have the previous names in the credits.
