I really don't get it. Leave the guy alone. Zimmer is who he is, and he won't change. The score was great in my opinion, and to say it is boring, not so. Also, the comment about us not understanding the history of film music, that like calling digital photography, not photography, because one can cheat by retaking pictures and photo-cropping.
The history of film music is to work with the film, blending together sound and picture, so it becomes a marriage. Hans did a fantastic job with that in Inception, and all of the Pirate films.
It seems to me, this reviewer simply dis-likes Hans Zimmer, and will almost always dis-like him.
Here is what it comes down to...If the director likes it, then its great! I honestly doubt Zimmer cares about a critic who continuously scrutinizes his style of writing. Zimmer is not going to change, and that's perfectly fine with me.

The remixes are pretty terrible in my opinion, but the score itself is great, in my opinion. I am disappointed with how little scoring was released, but that has almost always been the case for Zimmer's music. An example is Pearl Harbor, which was most emotionally scored.

As has been said before, look at the average rating of Zimmer scores here at Filmtracks and you will find it to be higher than many other, well-respected creative minds. Zimmer has only completely and entirely fallen off the cliff in the past several years. This album is truly, genuinely, painfully terrible, which is disappointing after the improvement displayed in AWE.

I'm coming to think that Hans Zimmer is becoming the George Lucas of Film scoring...what was once brilliant, revolutionary and unique (scores like Pacific Height, Days of Thunder and Lion King, even the last samurai) has become lazy, manipulated and cash grab (Pirates 1, 2, 4, The Dark Knight, Inception)
