After the Miklós Rózsa and Bernard Herrmann series and a brief diversion to account for recent scores by Thomas Newman and Christopher Young, we're now on to the big trio: Ennio Morricone, Georges Delerue, and Elmer Bernstein. My goal was to comprehensively cover those three from 1969 onward, including all their released work for American films and select highlights from their European ones.

There are a whopping 129 reviews from these composers in this round. I'll be breaking their debuts apart with handfuls of other reviews (new and re-writes) since those from the three could occupy 9 months of On Cue entries in succession by themselves. Several more Tom Newman reviews are already sitting in the queue, for instance.

The new round kicks off today with the score that was the #2 most-requested in this site's internal search engine for decades. (Top Gun was #1.) It comes from a year before this site's targeted emphasis, but it's well worth the reach backwards to establish the start of the composer's coverage.
