> DC League of Super-Pets (2022) - ****
This is the most fun I've had with a Jablonsky score since Steamboy. I remember reading Jon Broxton's comments about how he predicted Jablonsky to be the next John Powell. I'm glad he finally seems to be rising to that title, and his career seems to be only improving with time. On a side note, excited to hear how well the new Transformers movie goes score-wise. Jablonsky has said he's very proud of the new composer's music. I wonder if he'll reuse those iconic themes.
> Don’t Worry Darling (2022) - **½
> 'and was a fascinating creative exercise, though its abstract, unsettling demeanor made it an immense challenge to enjoy on an hour-long album.'
While the score works absolutely fantastic in the film, it's one of the most unpleasant album experiences Powell has ever created. I feel virtually the same as you on this one, and I'm very very curious to finally find out what the animated project Powell's been teasing actually is.
> longtime score collaborator John Ashton Thomas would pass away at the age of only 60.
Absolutely legendary man, who helped fashion hundreds of scores, several of which are some of my favorites of all time. Rest in peace to an unsung hero.
> Prehistoric Planet Season 1 (2022) - ****
I need to listen to this one again. I remember liking it, but I was very busy when I checked it out and my mind was too cluttered to really digest it. Looking forward to maybe giving this one a spin again sometime soon.
> Next time: “I’m fighting all the demons within me and going to speak to them in my language, which is music.”
