> On a side note, excited to hear how well the new Transformers movie goes score-wise. Jablonsky has said he's very proud of the new composer's music. I wonder if he'll reuse those iconic themes.

It's the greatest wild card of the year. Bontemps hasn't had a gig anywhere close to the scale of this film, which puts it in the kind of 'zero to 60' territory that The Incredibles was for Michael Giacchino.

This is advised. Eagle-eyed readers will note I gave this score ***1/2 in my year-end post, which was perhaps a function of being as distracted as you were. It held up better on a revisit, as did Frozen Planet II.

> What is THIS quote!?

It's from one of only two interviews I found with the composer that mentions the score, and the only interview done around the time of its release (the other was from much earlier).

It is perhaps also the first public instance of a film composer battling demons since John Debney's fight with Satan during work on The Passion of the Christ, though I believe in this case the composer was being metaphorical.
