I've heard that he is ill but this still came unexpected, especially since he remained active until the end. Now I regret having shirked from listening to his latest Score (2022s "Exception") just because I was intimidated by its two-hour running time. Sakamotos' Musical style was one of extreme range: He could write some of the harshest, most minimalistic Electronic Music I've ever heard and then could make a complete 180° and compose strikingly beautiful Orchestral Themes. Even if "Exception" belongs to the former category, I don't care. I feel like I owe it to the guy to check it out at least once.
